Marketing & Communications Volunteer

Do you have a passion for social justice and want to support women at risk of domestic violence and/or homelessness? We are looking for more like-minded individuals to help craft our message & expand our online presence through social media, community advocacy and public relations. We’re also after someone savvy & up to date with current trends to assist with the launch & coordination of our TikTok page (but this is not compulsory!).
If you’re a uni student or graduate looking to gain more hands-on experience in digital marketing & social impact, or an experienced professional looking to give back to your community, we’d love to have you involved!

Our Background
The Equanimity Project (Australia) are a charitable organisation, based in Sydney, working to alleviate domestic violence and homelessness for women (and children) across Australia. Our innovative 2-in-1 solution supports both those at risk of homelessness and those escaping abuse, with a housing and training program based on personal empowerment. We are a close-knit team of lived experience and diversity, who want to tell the right stories to create a lasting impact.
Your Role
You will form part of a dedicated team working to provide support to disadvantaged women. You will be responsible for designing & expanding our social media outreach. This includes posting or scheduling related news, upcoming initiatives, and events.
Your key responsibilities would be as follows:
- Collaborating on the development & implementation of marketing and campaign strategies
- Creating engaging social media content
- Researching & writing insightful articles or personal stories to raise awareness of our message
- Contributing to the growth of the organisation’s brand & community advocacy
Requirements
- Certification or experience in marketing and/or social media
- Experience or knowledge of marketing strategies & brand growth
- Values intersectionality and inclusivity
- Great written & verbal communication skills
- Strong eye for & proficiency in visual design and dynamic content creation (Adobe suite, Canva, or more)
Desirable (but not required) traits:
- Experience with fundraising
- Experience with website & mail programs (Wordpress, Mailchimp)
- Personable, with a great sense of humour!
Location: Our current office is based in Zetland, but we can discuss flexible options to work both in the office & from home! Although, you must be living in Australia.
