Training

Full training provided. You will be required to learn new skills including specific health and safety, risk assessment, infection control and safe pet / client interaction protocols. Training on average can take between 4-8 weeks for most. Mainly studying from home initially and then training at health care facilities.

Time required

Volunteers should be available for a few hours once every two weeks. Most visits are for one hour plus time to prepare and groom the pet, and drive to and from the location.

Reimbursement

We offer petrol reimbursement for some volunteers when asked to travel outside of their location.

Requirements

Driver's Licence (C)
Flu vaccination
National Police Certificate
Working with Children Check

After training pets are required to have a veterinarian assessment from their own vet for temperament, confidence and healthiness at own cost. All pets should be very comfortable at walking in a body harness on a leash and traveling in a vehicle. Cats and bunnies should be comfortable in a travel carry box / bag, and clearly enjoy meeting gentle strangers.
