HammondCare - North Turramurra

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity, specialising in dementia. They're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need and we have a wonderful group of volunteers that partner with them to enhance the lives of our residents.

As a Shopping Companion Volunteer you'll be assisting a resident in care to attend the nearby shops at Macquarie Centre. The role will include taking her to and from Macquarie Centre once a fortnight, helping her while at the shops, eg carrying bags, chatting with each other, and perhaps having a coffee together. She uses a walker and does not need assistance walking.

Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy to residents.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme is funded by the Australian Government and is established to promote links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.
