Social Visitor in Aged Care - Male Volunteers Encouraged to Apply!

Become a Volunteer Visitor and provide friendship and companionship to an older man living in an aged care home on the Central Coast
There's a new friend waiting to meet you right now!
Many men living in aged care homes find themselves feeling lonely and isolated. Volunteer Visitors provide a regular friendly face to someone who doesn't get a lot of visitors, and would love someone to chat with. They may also be isolated due to health or mobility issues.
This is your chance to meet someone new and brighten their day by swapping stories about family life, work, and hobbies....and make a meaningful connection.
No special skills or experience is required for Volunteer Visitors. Just some of your time and an eagerness to share a laugh and a chat with someone who would really appreciate it.
What is the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme? The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is funded by the Australian Government for older people who receive subsidised aged care services. The ACVVS supports older people who are socially isolated and feeling lonely by matching them with a Volunteer Visitor for regular 1:1 in-person social visits. Just an hour, once a fortnight, can make a real difference to the person you are matched up with.
Volunteering as an Aged Care Volunteer Visitor gives you access to new perspectives and helps you connect with your community. • Share ideas and stories • Make a new friend • Have a chat and a laugh together • The visits are purely social and can be spent doing activities you both enjoy - you might like to take a trip down memory lane looking at old photos, listen to music or watch TV together, go for a walk in the garden, enjoy a hobby together, or perhaps play a card game or do a puzzle together.
Volunteer Visitors are: • aged 18 years and older • empathetic and have a genuine warmth towards older people • good communicators and great listeners • patient, kind and caring • willing to commit to being a regular visitor to the special person that are matched up with
Location: In-person visits take place in an aged care home in locations across the entire Central Coast
