Our Vinnies shops are a well-established and much-loved part of the Aussie retail landscape for customers who value good quality, affordable & sustainable items. Aside from being an op-shop mecca for fans of all thing’s quality and thrift, the shops generate revenue for our broad range of services supporting the community.

The Online Retail Support Volunteer assists the online shop team in preparing, sorting and selecting donated items for sale through the online platform and retail shops.

The Volunteer Role

The Online Retail Support Volunteer will perform a variety of tasks including:

· Assist with receiving donations and providing friendly customer service to donors delivering goods

· Sort and assess donated clothing and goods to determine whether items are suitable for the online platform or retail shops

· Identify quality, branded, rare, or unusual items that may be suitable for online sale

· Support the preparation and organisation of stock for online listings

· Assist with identifying collectables or unique items that may be suitable for the eBay platform

· Help with basic order fulfilment, including preparing items for dispatch

· Assist with general warehouse tasks such as moving stock, organising work areas, and supporting stock flow

· Prepare and organise boxes of goods for distribution to retail shops

The Volunteer Skills and Qualities:

· Interest in clothing, collectables, or second-hand goods

· Good attention to detail when sorting and selecting items

· Reliable and willing to assist across different tasks

· Comfortable working in a team environment

· Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society;

· Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team; and

· Have good time management and use initiative to get the job done

No experience needed as coaching and training is provided. We welcome those with previous online retail and merchandising backgrounds to share their experience with their fellow volunteers in the shop.
