By volunteering in this role, you’ll play a direct part in preserving both history and the environment. Once fully restored, this cottage will be used to generate funds to support the maintenance and protection of the wetlands, creating a lasting impact on both the local environment and the community. You will not only help restore this charming structure but also directly contribute to the ongoing sustainability of the wetlands ecosystem, which is home to a diverse range of migratory birds and other wildlife. Key Responsibilities: · Pressure Cleaning: Refresh and restore the exterior surfaces of the heritage cottage, ensuring its longevity and aesthetic appeal. · Deck Maintenance: Oil and maintain the deck to prevent wear and tear, preserving both its function and charm. · Window Restoration: Clean and remove paint from the windows to restore natural light and improve the building’s overall condition. · Building Improvements: Identify and suggest necessary improvements to enhance the cottage’s structure and overall condition. · Repairs: Plug holes and make small repairs to preserve the integrity of the building. · Garden Maintenance: Help maintain and enhance the gardens surrounding the cottage, providing a welcoming and environmentally harmonious space. · Gutter Cleaning: Ensure gutters are clear and functioning correctly to avoid damage and preserve the property. Who We’re Looking For:

· Experience: This role is ideal for someone with experience in handyman or maintenance work, particularly in working with heritage-listed buildings. · Passion for the Environment: We’re looking for volunteers who care about conservation, nature, and preserving the beauty of our local environment. · Practical Skills: Your experience in repairs, cleaning, and outdoor maintenance will make a difference in the upkeep of this important structure. · Commitment: Volunteers should be able to commit to regular shifts, but we can offer flexibility to accommodate different schedules. Volunteer shifts are available on both Tuesday and Fridays from 8.30am – 12.00pm (flexible). You’ll be a part of a passionate community of volunteers; all working together to protect and enhance the local environment.
