About the Role

As the Public Relations Officer, you will be the active ‘Face’ of Latin Community Hub, acting as the bridge between the broader community, media outlets, partner organisations, and key stakeholders. This Executive role involves developing and implementing communication strategies, representing the organisation at events, and helping to build a strong and trusted presence in the public sphere on the Gold Coast and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Media and Public Relations: Craft and distribute press releases, respond to media inquiries, and proactively engage with media to highlight LCH’s mission and activities.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key community members, partner organisations, and government bodies.

  • Spokesperson Duties: Represent LCH at public events, meetings, and in approved media interviews, as required.

  • Strategic Communication: Work with the Executive team to develop public messaging aligned with our organisational values and goals.

  • Community Representation: Ensure LCH’s messaging reflects and advocates for the voices of the Latin American community.

What We Look For

  • Relevant Experience: Background in public relations, journalism, media, communications, community engagement or advocacy.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Deep understanding of and connection to culturally diverse and Latin American communities in Australia.

  • Bilingual Skills: Highly-regarded fluency in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with our community and stakeholders.

  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, confidence in public speaking, and ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.

  • Shared Values: Demonstrated alignment with at least one of LCH’s core values in your personal and professional life.

  • Commitment: Willingness to volunteer for at least 12 months, with an average of 5 hours per week.
