Volunteer Guide at the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway

Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway

Logo for Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway

Our guides play a vital role in honouring Australian soldiers who served on the Kokoda Track during World War Two by helping us to educate the public - especially school students - about the sacrifices made in the Kokoda Campaign.

Key duties of our volunteers include welcoming students and community groups to the Walkway, assisting with wreath-laying ceremonies at our Centrepiece and leading small groups along the Walkway, delivering commentary at each historical station. Volunteer involvement is flexible and coordinated with the needs of the Walkway. Previous volunteering experience is welcome but not essential but you must be confident in speaking to groups. Support including training and mentoring is provided to all new volunteers. A valid Working with Children Check must be provided prior to starting as a volunteer.
