**About the Grad Girls Program **

The Grad Girls Program is a flagship initiative of Women 4 STEM, designed to inspire and empower female and non-binary students to explore careers in STEM. The program features engaging workshops, interactive careers expo, panel discussions, and webinars, culminating in impactful events. Across the 9-month Program, participants connect with STEM professionals, gain hands-on experience, and envision themselves in STEM careers.

**Role Overview **

Reporting directly to the Brisbane Program Lead, the Brisbane Program 2IC Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth delivery of the new Grad Girls Program Brisbane chapter. Acting as second-in-command, you will support the Program Lead in managing up to 10 direct reporting volunteers, across multiple functions. This includes coordinating cross-team collaboration and stepping in as acting Program Lead when required.

This role is suited to someone with strong organisational and leadership skills who is keen to gain experience in program management and stakeholder engagement while making a tangible impact on diversity in STEM.

This is an excellent opportunity for emerging professionals in Program/Project Management, Non-Profit Leadership, or Events to gain high-level oversight and leadership experience, expand networks, and contribute to a cause with real impact. Volunteers receive hands-on exposure, mentoring, and perks such as discounted tickets to Women 4 STEM events.

**Responsibilities include: **

  • Support Program Lead in program design, planning, and execution across the 9-month Program.
  • Oversee Volunteer Coordinators & Support and provide guidance, mentorship, and clear direction.
  • Facilitate team meetings and reporting, ensuring progress is tracked, challenges are escalated, and cross-functional collaboration is maintained.
  • Step in as acting Program Lead during absences, representing the program to sponsors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Partnership Liaison and Marketing Lead to ensure sponsor and brand integration across events and communications.
  • Coordinate with Data Analysts to track program metrics, survey results, and outcomes to meet grant and reporting requirements.
  • Work with Student Engagement Coordinators and all Events Coordinators to ensure alignment across student engagement, partner activations, and event delivery.
  • Support program logistics, including timeline management, budget oversight (as applicable), and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide regular updates to the Program Lead, COO, and Women 4 STEM leadership team (including Board Members) on program outcomes, risks, and recommendations.

**Who are we looking for? **

  • Experience in program or project management, ideally in events management, not-for-profits, or education.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing multiple team members or volunteers.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with ability to coordinate multiple workstreams.
  • Confident communicator with proven stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality program delivery.
  • Confident with Zoom and Teams; Google Meet experience a bonus.
  • Experience with Slack is an advantage (not essential as training provided).
  • A passion for gender equality and diversity in STEM education.

**What is the commitment? **

  • Approximately ~10 hours per week, with workload peaking around major program milestones.
  • The Grad Girls Program runs for 9 months (February–October). Applicants must commit for the full 2026 program
  • Flexibility to attend both in-person events and virtual meetings (note: team meetings may be outside business hours or on weekends)
