Volunteer Local Coordinator – Support a Young Person on Exchange

About Us Students of the World is a not-for-profit organisation that connects cultures through high-school exchange. We welcome students from Europe and North America into Australian homes and communities, giving young people the opportunity to learn, grow, and belong.
Our Volunteer Local Coordinators are at the heart of this experience—supporting students, host families, and schools to ensure every exchange is safe, enriching, and full of connection.
You will:
- Welcome and support an exchange student in your community who is living with a host family and attending a local high school
- Be a listening ear for students and host families
- Visit or call the student monthly to check in with them and submit a short report about their progress
- Work with the Students of the World team to ensure student well-being
- Be part of a national network of passionate volunteers
This role is perfect for people who are:
- Interested in other cultures and the world
- Good listeners with a caring, calm approach
- Connected to their local community
- Able to follow child-safety and program guidelines
You will need a current Working With Children Check or your state's equivalent, and preferably be 25 years or older.
Former exchange students, teachers, parents, retirees, and community-minded people are warmly encouraged to apply.
