Drivers - Outings for Aged Care Residents - Queanbeyan
Driving Schedule (Flexible)
You can do all or some of the following: • Every Thursday and fortnightly Fridays, or • Fortnightly Fridays only • Available on other days by agreement for special occasions and/or to meet resident wishes
This flexibility allows you to participate on days that suit your availability while supporting resident needs and wellbeing.
Role Scope • Comfortable taking residents on outings, including:
- Scenic drives
- Shopping trips
- Community and leisure outings
• The primary role is to safely drive the bus • Drivers are not expected to assist residents on or off the bus unless you have completed manual handling training • A staff member will always accompany outings and remains responsible for:
- Resident safety and support
- First aid
- Bus maintenance and bookings
Vehicle & Training • Driving a 12 seater bus fitted with a wheelchair lift • Training will be provided on:
- Safe vehicle operation
- Correct use of the wheelchair lift
Essential Requirements • Full Australian driver’s licence (no special licence required) • Willingness and confidence to drive a 12-seater bus • Completion of all BaptistCare volunteer application and onboarding requirements • National Police Check (required prior to commencement) Personal Qualities • Friendly, patient, and respectful • Enjoys working with older people • Reliable, safety focused, and community minded
Volunteer Recognition & Support Volunteer drivers are valued members of our community and are included in volunteer recognition days and events throughout the year.
