Our Newcastle Community Hub in Newcastle West is seeking a warm, creative and community‑minded volunteer to lead weekly craft sessions that bring people together, spark connection and nurture confidence through creativity.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys helping others, loves hands‑on craft activities, and thrives on creating an inclusive, welcoming space for everyone.

What's involved?

As a Community Craft Facilitator, you will:

  • Plan and prepare simple, engaging craft activities suitable for all skill levels

  • Guide participants during sessions, offering encouragement and support

  • Set up and pack down the craft space, keeping materials organised and accessible

  • collaborate with staff and volunteers to promote activities and celebrate craft achievements

  • Assist with basic inventory management and communication of supply needs

  • Participate in occasional community events and workshops

  • Foster a friendly, inclusive environment where every participant feels valued and heard

This is a wonderful opportunity to help others express themselves creatively and to help build genuine social connections within our local community.

Time commitment - Wednesday 9.30am to 12.30pm (3–4 hours per week) - within school terms; Morning tea & lunch is provided.

What you'll bring:

  • A love of craft - any kind (painting, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking etc)

  • Patience, enthusiasm and a friendly, approachable presence

  • Clear communication skills and ability to guide small groups

  • Reliability and commitment to a 6-12 month volunteer period
