Social connections are essential to everyone's wellbeing, and that includes older people in our community. No-one should have to feel lonely in their twilight years.

Volunteering Central Coast is a local grassroots organisation helping make meaningful connections in our beautiful community through the government-funded Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS).

Our team of Volunteer Visitors are empathetic, compassionate and kind-hearted people wanting to make a real difference to the lives of an older person living in their local area.

We're currently searching for MALE and FEMALE volunteers who live in the Lanwal / Lake Haven area to give the gift of their time and commit to a regular visit with a lonely older person. There's a new friend waiting to meet you right now!

Visits are purely for social reasons (no personal care duties) and happen on a regular ongoing basis for an hour a fortnight (or weekly, if you are available). Visits are spent doing activities you both enjoy - take a trip down memory lane looking at old photos, listen to music, go for a walk in the garden, share a hobby, or play a card game or do a puzzle together.

It's all about connection, companionship and community.

Volunteer Visitors require patience and reliability...and above all else, a heart for older people. You will be supported in your role by an ACVVS Coordinator.

Volunteers undergo a police check and complete a short online training program before commencing their volunteering role.

We are currently looking for volunteers in the mid-north Central Coast areas, but our program extends to residential aged care homes in locations throughout the NSW Central Coast. So if you're outside this particular area, please still register your interest and we will be in touch about joining our Volunteer Visitor team waitlist.

Volunteers must be aged 18 years or older and be able to make a minimum commitment of 12 months or longer.
