About the Grad Girls Tech Program

The Grad Girls Tech program is a flagship initiative with not-for-profit organisation, Women 4 STEM, designed to support women and gender diverse tertiary students and recent graduates as they transition into tech careers through mentorship, facilitated workshops, industry connection, and real-world exposure.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Mentor Coordinator, this volunteer role is to help support the 50x group mentors and team to deliver the mentoring stream within the Grad Girls Tech program. You’ll help coordinate mentor matching, provide admin & logistics support for 50x group mentors, and assist with the delivery of six group mentoring sessions across the year. Working closely with the Student Engagement and Data teams, you’ll help ensure mentors and participants are informed, supported, and engaged throughout the program.

Note: This role requires approximately 6 hours per week, spread across the week (30-60 minutes per day, rather than completing all hours in a single day).

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in coordinating large groups, community organisation, or project/program delivery. Volunteers gain hands-on experience, expand their networks, receive mentoring and support, and enjoy perks such as discounted tickets to Women 4 STEM events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping coordinate mentor matching for up to 53 mentors, forming balanced groups of 4–6 participants
  • Support mentors to deliver 6 facilitated group mentoring sessions
  • Share mentor resources and updates, including the Mentor Guide
  • Act as a point of contact for mentors via dedicated email and Slack
  • Follow established escalation pathways for any issues or concerns
  • Liaise with Student Engagement to share session reminders, FAQs, and updates
  • Work with Data team to gather feedback from mentors
  • Track participation and attendance against graduation criteria
  • Provide monthly updates to Mentor Coordinator on progress, challenges, and improvements

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience supporting mentoring, education, or volunteer programs (helpful but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence working across teams and stakeholders
  • Organised, proactive, with good attention to detail
  • Approachable and solutions-focused, able to respond calmly when questions or issues arise
  • Reliable and enthusiastic, with a strong student-centred mindset
  • Comfortable using tools such as Slack, Teams & Zoom
  • A genuine interest in gender equity and supporting diversity in tech

What is the commitment?

  • Approximately 6 hours per week, across the week. Certain times are busier than others
  • The Grad Girls Tech Program runs for 9 months (February–October). Applicants must commit for the full 2026 program
  • Flexibility to attend both in-person events and virtual meetings (note: team meetings may be outside business hours)
