Creative Writer Volunteer Facilitator

The Ozanam Learning Centre is a community centre based in Woolloomooloo where people can connect, learn, participate in activities and workshops, and access a wide range of supports. Our work aims to provide opportunities for inclusion and support for those who need it. We offer creative programs such as art, music, health, well-being and recovery programs, personal development and living skills programs.
We are proud of the activities in the centre and would like to re-introduce the Creative Writing activity.
You will be leading the Creative Writing class, a drop-in session where participants may be guided with their own projects, which could include Storytelling, Short Stories, Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Personal Essays. You will be supporting and encouraging participants to develop their skills and explore pathways to further artistic development and education.
You will help establish and maintain a lively, cooperative, and inspiring atmosphere in the room.
To do this role you will have a passion for and some experience in teaching creative writing, poetry, and storytelling. You will have good people skills, including ability to manage conflict, and a warm, friendly personality, patience, and compassion.
The Ozanam Learning Centre is open between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on weekdays. We would like the volunteer to be available for two hours every week on Mondays between 1.30 – 3.30 pm.
All prospective volunteers will be invited to have a one-on-one tour of the facilities and services to see if the environment best suits them.
