Since its inception, the “Ben’s Place” pantry has grown to become a lifeline for countless individuals and families facing financial hardships, providing them with access to nutritious food and essential supplies. Over 400 households visit the pantry each week, including pensioners, people with disabilities, veterans, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families with young children and people who are homeless. Ready-made meals are also provided to people in palliative care and we supply staples to school breakfast clubs to ensure children start the day with a healthy dose of energy. There is ample fresh fruit and vegetables daily, along with fresh bread and rolls.

Our mission is to address food insecurity and improve the mental health and wellbeing of our community through our free community pantries within Knox and Yarra Ranges.

As a volunteer donation collector, your duties will include:

• Driving to supermarkets in the mornings to collect donations
• Heavy lifting is involved
• After collection, returning to the pantry to unload
• Help set up pantry with stock
• Sorting and cleaning if needed
