Board Secretary

Key Duties

  • Prepare and distribute board meeting agendas in advance, including all relevant documents and reports
  • Accurately record and distribute board meeting minutes, capturing key discussions, decisions, and action items
  • Coordinate meeting dates, times, and logistics, ensuring all board members are informed
  • Ensure the organisation adheres to legal, regulatory, and governance requirements, including timely submission of reports and filings
  • Maintain and update governance policies, procedures, and position descriptions
  • Organise and maintain accurate records of board meetings, resolutions, and correspondence, ensuring they are securely stored and easily accessible
  • Facilitate effective communication between board members, the operational leadership team, and external stakeholders
  • Support the President and fellow board members with administrative tasks and correspondence as required
  • Coordinate the handover of organisational knowledge and documentation to incoming committee members and volunteers

Skills and Experience

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and clear style
  • High attention to detail in preparing minutes, reports, and governance documentation
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines consistently
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, board governance practices and regulatory compliance obligations
  • Proficiency with standard digital tools for document management, scheduling, and communication (e.g. Google Workspace)
  • Relevant secondary or tertiary education background is an advantage

Mandatory requirements:

  • Evidence of right to work in Australia (birth certificate, citizenship, permanent residency, or valid visa)

Dodgeball Australia (DA) is the peak national body for Dodgeball in Australia. Our responsibility is to promote and maintain the growth of Dodgeball across all Australian states and territories. We unify the rules and policies for Dodgeball in Australia to ensure it is recognised as a legitimate sport that attracts talented and enthusiastic athletes at both social and international levels.

With the support of our dedicated team of volunteers and members, we deliver adult and youth development programmes, coaching certifications, social activities, and world-class tournaments for the benefit of the sport and our community. Dodgeball Australia is an official member of the World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF).
