The Opportunity

The Bower is seeking organized and detail-oriented volunteers to join our marrickville store volunteer team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys the "library" atmosphere and takes pride in transforming a box of donations into a beautifully curated, easy-to-navigate collection of DVD'd/ CD's, magazines or books.

Key Duties

Working alongside our volunteer team under our store managers guidance to manage the lifecycle of our media donations:

1. Quality Control & Cleaning: Inspecting incoming books, CDs, and DVDs to ensure they meet our quality standards and cleaning items for display.

2. Curation & Merchandising: Creating engaging shelf displays that highlight unique finds or specific genres to encourage browsing.

3. Research & Pricing: Using online resources and internal guides to research the value of unique or high-quality stock to ensure fair and accurate pricing.

4. Organization: Alphabetizing and genre-sorting physical media to maintain a professional and accessible retail environment.

Skills and Experience Required

1. Media Literacy: A strong general knowledge of book genres, authors, and music/film categories.

2. Retail or Library Savvy: Experience in alphabetizing or sorting large collections.

3. Digital Research Skills: Excelent knowlddge of pre-loved item pricing and the ability to use a smartphone or computer to look up stock and compare pricing.

4. Attention to Detail: A "keen eye" for condition and a commitment to keeping shelves tidy and organized.

5. Collaboration: A friendly, helpful attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
