Volunteer General Assistant – Pelican Day Club, Killarney Vale

Pelican Day Club is a welcoming social group for seniors who enjoy connection, companionship and gentle activities in a supportive environment. The group meets every Wednesday at the RSL Community Centre in Hume Boulevard, Killarney Vale.

They are currently seeking multiple mature and friendly volunteers to join as General Assistants. This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys being part of a team and engaging with older members of the community.

As a General Assistant, you’ll help create a warm and inclusive atmosphere by supporting both the social and practical aspects of the day.

Duties include:

• Setting up and clearing tables for morning tea and lunch
• Serving meals and assisting members as needed
• Supporting and presenting activities such as raffles, bingo and quizzes
• Providing general assistance to ensure the day runs smoothly
• Occasionally assisting as a bus host, helping members safely on and off the mini-bus

This role is all about connection. Whether you’re sharing a laugh over a game, helping serve a meal, or offering a friendly face and a steady hand, your presence makes a real difference.

What’s involved:

• Wednesdays from 8:30am to 1:30pm
• Based at RSL Community Centre, Killarney Vale
• Morning tea and lunch provided
• Supportive and social team environment
