In these roles, you will report to the Marketing Manager, work closely with the Managing Director, and collaborate with the Central Marketing Team (CMT) to support the delivery and growth of CLCN’s Chinese social media presence across WeChat and RedNote (Xiaohongshu).
Working as co-team leaders, you will share responsibility for content planning, team coordination, and platform management, while leading initiatives that support employability, social cohesion, and opportunities for multicultural and diverse communities across South Australia.
This opportunity allows volunteers to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and contribute to meaningful work that supports multicultural communities, particularly Chinese-speaking audiences.
Key Responsibilities
As the Chinese Social Media Co-Team Leader (Project Management), you will:
- Plan and execute community-focused campaigns tailored to Chinese audiences (e.g. student life, employability, migration journeys, and showcase of CLCN events).
- Drive follower growth and engagement strategies on WeChat and RedNote, including collaborations, repost strategies, and trend alignment.
- Coordinate campaign rollouts with a focus on timing, cultural relevance, and platform algorithms.
- Identify content opportunities based on trends (e.g. RedNote lifestyle content, WeChat long-form articles).
- Track campaign impact using platform analytics (reads, saves, shares) and refine strategies accordingly.
As the Chinese Social Media Co-Team Leader (Content), you will:
- Oversee creation of Chinese-language content, ensuring it is culturally relevant, engaging, and platform-appropriate.
- Adapt existing English content into localised formats (not direct translation), suitable for WeChat articles and RedNote posts.
- Guide content creators on tone, storytelling style, and visual trends popular in Chinese social media.
- Ensure consistency in branding while allowing flexibility for platform-specific styles (e.g. more storytelling on RedNote).
- Review and optimise content for readability, engagement, and shareability within Chinese communities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Familiarity with Chinese social media ecosystems (WeChat & RedNote)
- Ability to understand content trends and user behaviour in Chinese digital spaces
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Ability to work across cultures and adapt messaging
- Experience in content, marketing, or leadership roles (preferred)
- Chinese language proficiency (highly preferred)
- Previous experience in a leadership or team management role, ideally within a marketing or social media environment.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and audience engagement strategies.
- Ability to analyse performance metrics and apply insights to improve content and campaign effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support a volunteer team.
Why Volunteer With CLCN?
- Lead within Australia's first-of-its-kind grassroots talent incubator, an ACNC-registered not-for-profit shaping the future of professional development for international students, skilled migrants, and emerging professionals.
- Shape organisational culture and people strategy during a pivotal period of growth and expansion.
- Work alongside experienced leaders across universities, government, industry, and multicultural communities.
- Contribute at a strategic level, influencing SOPs, standards, and frameworks that define how CLCN develops its people.
- Gain formal recognition for your contribution, including testimonials, references, and portfolio development support.
