**Want to make a difference with your volunteering, preserving maritime history while spending your time with a great team in a friendly environment? ** Sydney Heritage Fleet is a volunteer organisation dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels which include Tall Ship James Craig, 1912 K-class ferry Kanangra, coastal steamship John Oxley, 1902 steam tug Waratah, 1902 VIP launch Lady Hopetoun, 1903 schooner Boomerang, Tugs and several diesel motor launches.
What you will be doing
- Fabrication, welding, and repair of structural and mechanical components on vessels
- Operate workshop machinery such as grinders, presses, and welders safely and efficiently
- Carry out maintenance and modification work in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Complete workshop and job documentation accurately and on time
- Support dry dock and inservice maintenance activities
- Assist with hot riveting
- Perform work safely in compliance with WHS standards
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary trades teams
About you
- Trade qualified Boilermaker (Certificate III or equivalent)
- Strong experience in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) and heavy fabrication
- Experience working on ships, heavy engineering, is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Confined Space, EWP and other safety qualifications will be highly regarded
Location We are based in Rozelle Bay, not far from the light rail and buses. On your first day you will receive a cheerful welcome, safety orientation training and a guided tour of our work centres.
