About the Role
We are seeking a Policy, Grants & Government Engagement Coordinator to strengthen WAI Australia’s understanding of the government landscape and help us navigate the policies, funding programs, and regulatory changes shaping the future of aviation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, writing, and translating complex information into clear, engaging insights. You will monitor government policy (federal and state), identify grant opportunities, support the preparation of submissions, and help ensure WAI Australia is well‑positioned to participate in national conversations about workforce development, STEM equity, and the future of the industry.
You will also coordinate surveys and consultation responses, and contribute content for newsletters and social media that helps our community understand what’s changing and why it matters.
This is a newly created role with national impact and strong alignment to WAI Australia’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor federal and state government policy developments relevant to aviation, aerospace, STEM, education, workforce, and gender equality
- Identify and assess grant and funding opportunities aligned with WAI Australia’s strategic priorities
- Support the preparation of grant applications, submissions, and government‑facing documents
- Coordinate WAI Australia’s participation in surveys, consultations, and sector‑wide policy discussions
- Prepare short, accessible summaries of policy changes, funding programs, and regulatory updates
- Provide content for newsletters and social media that explains complex topics in a clear, engaging way
- Maintain a central repository of policy documents, grant guidelines, and correspondence
- Provide regular updates on emerging issues, risks, and opportunities
Requirements
- Experience with grants is essential, including identifying opportunities and interpreting guidelines
- Experience or interest in government policy, public administration, aviation, STEM, or gender equity
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into digestible content
- Comfort working with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, SharePoint, Word)
- Ability to interpret government documents, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience engaging with federal and/or state government is highly welcomed
