Social Media Volunteer

**Position Purpose **
This role will support the Social Media Officer with content creation. The candidate will use their creativity, social media skills and knowledge of social media trends to help promote the social enterprises’ products and services. ASRC Catering’s objective is to increase our reach by tapping into new potential customers and providing highlights about engaging in business with us. Our value proposition will be front and centre, offering our customers and supporters an actionable way to create a positive social impact, while getting top-quality products.
About the Program: Catering Social Enterprise
The ASRC Social Enterprises exist to create pathways to sustainable employment and financial independence for people seeking asylum. There are currently two operational social enterprises - ASRC Cleaning and ASRC Catering (with a kitchen team in Fitzroy and two cafés that operate at the University of Melbourne at their Parkville and Southbank campuses). These enterprises provide people seeking asylum and refugees with training and work experience to develop new skills and regain autonomy and purpose. ASRC Catering aims to provide pathways to further employment for people seeking asylum and refugees through education, training and hands-on work experience in the hospitality industry.
Organisational context
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia's largest independent organization providing aid, employment, health services and advocacy for people seeking asylum. Powered by over 500 volunteers and 200 staff, we create welcoming and inclusive environments. Our organisational values are Welcoming, Authentic, Courageous and Collaborative.
Key Responsibilities
● Monitor ASRC account on days unmonitored to share UGC content and engage with users
● Administrative work such as keeping an archive of links for past posts
● Create monthly proposals with creative content ideas to promote the products and services of our social enterprise
● Liaise with the ASRC Marketing team to maintain brand consistency and agree on a content schedule
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
● Someone creative, energetic and willing to share their social media expertise with the ASRC team.
● Social Media experience - (you don’t need to have professional experience). We are looking for someone who loves social media and is very familiar with Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
● Knowledge and practical experience creating Reels and TikToks.
● A good eye for photography.
● You’ll need to use your own smartphone for content creation.
Desirable:
● Prior experience in a similar role
● Lived experience as a person seeking asylum, or from a refugee background
● Knowledge of the policy context of practice with asylum seekers visa categories/conditions, and the barriers faced by people seeking asylum in Australia
