MiCare are looking for volunteers that can share a smile and companionship during weekly friendly visits to isolated and lonely elderly people in Victoria.

We have a lovely lady living in Aged Care (Avondale Heights area) who is looking for someone to visit her in an aged care facility on a regular basis. She has lived a very full and exciting life, and enjoys walks in the courtyard and a cup of coffee and a chat. If you appreciate Italian culture and like to converse in Italian please get in touch. She prefers an Italian female speaker so we ask that you can speak Italian at least conversationally.

Volunteering brings fun and fulfilment to your life and makes a huge difference to those in the community seeking companionship.

Visits may be spent talking or sharing in a simple leisure activity together. Your regular visits can make a real and positive difference in the life of these residents.

We ask volunteers to commit to weekly visits for at least 6 months, however this is an ongoing role and we hope to support your friendship for as long as possible.

Volunteers receive training, orientation, ongoing support, travel reimbursement and invitations to meetings together with other visiting volunteers.

This program is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) - an Australian Government initiative.
