Associate Editor & Content Strategist

Sundale is transforming from a traditional care provider into its brand promise – feel at home, the Heart of the Community. Part of this transformation is the launch of the Sundale Life Magazine; a premium, biannual publication designed to celebrate ‘More than living. Belonging.’
This isn't a corporate brochure; it’s a high-quality lifestyle magazine that tells the stories of our 700+ staff, our customers, residents, employees and our local community.
We’re looking for a storyteller with a strategic lens to help us move from concept to coffee table. You’ll work directly with the Brand, Experience and Communications team to bridge the gap between our Sundale community and the modern Sunshine Coast lifestyle.
**Key Objectives ** • The Human Interest Hunt: Interview customers, residents and employees to turn their story into 800 words of compelling narrative. • The Digital Bridge: Repurpose print stories into snackable social content. • The Local's Map: Curate the Insider’s Guide section - liaising with local businesses (cafés, boutiques, surf clubs) to feature them in the magazine.
**Key Deliverables ** • 3 x Feature Articles: Professionally written and edited Life Story profiles. • 1x Strategic Content Calendar: A 30-day social media plan to build launch hype for Edition 02 – Spring / Summer 2026. • The Legacy Loop Video: A short-form video (Reel style) capturing a Moment that Matters between a customer / resident and a team member.
**Why This Matters for Your Career ** We know you aren't just here to volunteer; you’re here to build a future! Sundale offers: • Executive Mentorship: Regular 1:1 check-ins to discuss your career goals. • Published Credits: Your name on the masthead of a physical publication distributed across the Sunshine Coast. • The Total Experience (TX) Case Study: Tangible evidence of your ability to work within a major organisational transformation - a massive talking point for future job interviews. • LinkedIn Endorsement: A formal recommendation detailing your specific strategic contributions.
**Skills We’re Looking For ** • The Pen: Ability to write with empathy, warmth, and professional polish. • The Eye: Basic photography or Canva skills to ensure stories look as good as they read. • The Ear: Exceptional interviewing skills - you can make anyone feel comfortable sharing their story. • The Coastie Spirit: A genuine love for the Sunshine Coast and its unique culture.
**How to Apply ** Forget the formal cover letter! Send us a link to your portfolio or one piece of writing you’re proud of, along with a 30-second video telling us: ‘What is one Sunshine Coast story that deserves to be told?’ Email: Tracey Gillinder [email protected]
