Male Narrator for Teenage & Young Adult Talking Books

Vision Australia is a leading national organisation supporting people who are blind or have low vision. Our Audio Production team records a wide variety of material at our Kooyong studios, including popular mainstream titles, award winning fiction, and novels from our accessible library collection.
We are seeking male narrators with a lighter, younger sounding voice to record teenage and young adult and first person fiction titles. These titles require a narrator who can authentically connect with a younger audience through an expressive, engaging delivery.
What you’ll be doing:
• Recording young adult and first person fiction titles from our library collection
• Delivering a sensitive and intelligent interpretation of fiction material
• Using strong pacing, clarity, and expression to bring stories to life
• Pre reading and preparing material prior to recording
• Operating recording equipment in a supported studio environment
Who we’re looking for:
This role would suit late teenagers or young adults, or older volunteers with a youthful vocal quality.
It is particularly suitable for secondary or university students studying Drama, Literature, or Performance, or anyone enthusiastic about storytelling with a clear, expressive voice.

• Performance or broadcasting skills
• English speaking fluency and literacy
• Confidence reading fiction aloud
• Ability to interpret and pace material suitable for a younger audience
• Research skills to ensure correct pronunciation and accuracy
• Time management skills
• Working with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail
• Basic computer literacy skills
• Reliability and commitment to a regular weekly session
Time required:
• 3 hour recording session once per week
• Monday to Friday during business hours (no weekends)
• Based at Kooyong studios
• Ideally a regular weekly commitment (after school where possible)
