We are looking for caring and reliable volunteers in the Tumut area to visit residents in local aged care facilities. Your time, conversation, and companionship can make a meaningful difference in the life of an older person experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

About the Role As a Volunteer Visitor, you'll spend time with aged care residents, engaging in friendly conversation, sharing stories, or participating in simple activities such as reading, games, or going for short walks within the facility grounds. This is a flexible role that can suit people of all ages and backgrounds. We welcome both men and women to apply.

Key responsibilities:

• Visit an assigned resident on a regular basis (e.g. minimum once a fortnight).

• Provide companionship through conversation and social interaction.

• Engage in simple, enjoyable activities tailored to the resident's interests.

• Help foster connection and wellbeing.

• Respect privacy, dignity, and individual preferences.

About You

• Friendly, compassionate, and a good listener.

• Reliable and able to commit to regular visits.

• Respectful of older people from diverse backgrounds.

• Able to communicate clearly and build rapport.

Requirements

• Willingness to undergo a National Police Check (provided if required at no cost).

• Flu vaccination status will be required depending on the facility guidelines.
