Communications Implementation Support Volunteer

About the role (organisational background + role)

Psychology for a Safe Climate (PSC) is a small, not‑for‑profit organisation that supports people in facing the reality of the climate crisis, with a particular focus on the mental health and emotional dimensions of climate change.

The Communications Implementation Support Volunteer helps PSC deliver day‑to‑day communications across social media and our member community hub. The role is focused on implementation support rather than communications strategy, and includes helping maintain a consistent and engaging presence across channels such as Mighty Networks (our Community Member hub), the PSC newsletter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.

Key duties

  • Support implementation of communications content across PSC social media channels, including LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Assist with scheduling, posting, adapting and formatting content provided by PSC staff.
  • Help maintain PSC’s Mighty Networks member hub through content posting, updates and light community support tasks.
  • Contribute to consistent communications delivery across platforms and flag opportunities or issues to staff as they arise.

Skills and experience

  • Experience supporting social media or digital communications implementation across multiple channels.
  • Strong writing, editing and organisational skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Confidence using social media platforms and online community tools; experience with Meta tools and Mighty Networks is desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow agreed messaging, tone of voice and brand guidance.

Commitment

  • Minimum 4–6 hours per week.
  • Tasks prioritised according to current communications needs, campaign activity and your availability.

Benefits of volunteering with PSC

  • Contribute your skills to a mission‑driven organisation working at the intersection of climate change and mental health.
  • Build practical experience in digital communications and community engagement across multiple platforms.
  • Work closely with a small, supportive team and gain insight into not‑for‑profit operations and climate psychology.
  • Flexible, hybrid/remote role that can be shaped around your existing commitments.

Impact of the role

By helping PSC maintain a consistent and engaging digital presence, this role directly supports our capacity to:

  • Reach more people needing emotional support with climate distress.
  • Strengthen our practitioner and member community.
  • Share resources, events and reflections that build psychological resilience and support climate action.

Extra steps to apply

  • Submit your expression of interest via Seelk (CV and a short statement about why you’re interested in the role and how your skills fit).
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a brief online conversation to clarify fit, availability and role expectations.
  • Successful applicants will participate in a PSC volunteer induction and role‑specific onboarding.
