Volunteer HR & People Lead – Help Shape Our Growing Charity!

At Chozen Foundation, we run targeted initiatives like our Walk for Water event to fund sustainable development programs in Zimbabwe. We are entering an exciting phase of rapid organizational growth and are expanding our workforce to scale our global impact.
As we grow, we know that our impact is only as strong as the people behind it. We are looking for a visionary Volunteer HR & People Lead who wants to apply their human resources expertise to design our people structures, protect our positive culture, and map out our workforce strategy for the future.
The Opportunity This is a pivotal role for our charity. You will not just be managing templates; you will be a strategic partner helping us navigate our growth. You will help us answer the big questions: Who do we need to recruit next? How do we onboard them effectively? How do we maintain a thriving, connected volunteer culture across borders?
Key Responsibilities: Growth & Workforce Planning: Collaborate with leadership to identify talent gaps, map future team structures, and support the recruitment of incoming roles (such as our new Programs Lead).
Onboarding & Lifecycle: Design and implement a simple, welcoming onboarding framework so new volunteers feel connected and aligned from day one.
Culture & Retention: Foster an inclusive, high-trust team environment that keeps our volunteer base engaged, valued, and motivated.
HR Compliance & Policy: Review or establish baseline volunteer agreements, codes of conduct, and simple HR guidelines tailored to an agile non-profit environment.
Time Commitment & Flexibility Hours: Approximately 3 to 5 hours per week (highly flexible around your professional schedule).
Location: Remote / Work from Home.
Duration: Ideally looking for someone who can commit to a minimum of 12 months to provide stability during our growth phase.
About You (Selection Criteria)
This role is perfect for a practicing HR Specialist, Talent Acquisition Advisor, People & Culture Manager, or a senior HR student/graduate looking to build a stellar portfolio of organizational development work.
Skills & Experience Required: HR Background: Experience or qualifications in Human Resources, Recruitment, or People & Culture management.
Strategic Thinking: The ability to look at where our organization is headed and proactively structure teams to get us there.
People-First Communication: Empathetic, clear communication skills that build immediate trust with volunteers and leadership.
Self-Starter Mentality: Comfortable working with minimal infrastructure and excited by the prospect of building HR frameworks from scratch.
What We Offer You A Blank Canvas: The rare opportunity to architect the People & Culture strategy for a growing international charity.
Executive Visibility: Work directly alongside the organization’s founders and leadership team.
Tangible Global Impact: Your structural work directly empowers the teams bringing clean water and development to communities in Zimbabwe.
