The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of The Boroondara Stroke Support Group Inc. (BSSG).

The Boroondara Stroke Support Group (BSSG) was started by a stroke survivor over 20 years ago to support other stroke survivors and their carers in rebuilding their post-stroke lives. The group runs a variety of activities to provide social support to its members. We are a fun and caring team, supported by a part-time Hub Administrator. Our aim is to support stroke survivors in rebuilding their post-stroke lives.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Public Relations and Marketing Assistant to work closely with our Event Coordinator in promoting and delivering two high-profile concerts taking place in August in Boroondara. This role requires a creative and organised individual with experience in marketing, communications, public relations, event promotion, or community engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to multiple aspects of event promotion, including media engagement, social media management, marketing campaigns, stakeholder communication, and audience development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies for both concerts
  • Supporting communication with sponsors, community partners, media outlets, performers, and stakeholders
  • Assisting with the preparation of media releases, promotional materials, and marketing collateral
  • Helping increase audience engagement and ticket sales through targeted promotional activities
  • Coordinating marketing timelines and ensuring promotional activities are delivered on schedule
  • Assisting with photography, content collection, and event promotion before, during, and after the concerts
  • Supporting on-the-day event communications and audience engagement activities

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, experience in digital marketing and social media platforms, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Creativity, initiative, attention to detail, and a passion for community engagement are essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of two significant cultural events while helping raise awareness of the important work undertaken by the Boroondara Stroke Support Group within the community.
