Volunteer Companion – Make a Difference in an Older Person's Life
Organisation: Ashfield Baptist Homes (ACVVS Program)
Location: Inner West, Southwest and Southwest Sydney
Time Commitment: Approximately 1 hour per week or fortnight
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?
Ashfield Baptist Homes is seeking compassionate volunteers to join the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS). Our volunteers provide friendship and companionship to older people who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
As a Volunteer Companion, you'll be matched with an older person based on shared interests, hobbies, culture, or language. Whether it's having a chat over a cup of tea, going for a walk, playing a game, or simply spending time together, your regular visits can make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do:

Visit an older person on a 1 hour a fortnight

Build a meaningful friendship through conversation and companionship

Help reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing

Share interests, stories, and experiences
What We're Looking For:

Friendly, caring, and reliable individuals

Good communication and listening skills

Respect for older people from diverse backgrounds

No previous experience required

All volunteers will go through a National Police Check (paid by ABH), training, orientation, and ongoing support will be provided.
