Training

Training can take around 4-8 weeks on average depending on the person and pet's skills on recruitment. Ongoing full support given.

Time required

Pet Therapy visits last for one hour. Volunteers are required to be available for minimum two visits per month.

Reimbursement

Travel reimbursements can be arranged for volunteers travelling outside their area after training.

Driver's Licence (C)
Flu vaccination
National Police Certificate
Working with Children Check

Other Requirements: . A driving license and a vehicle to safely transport your pet. . Currently most official health care facilities require volunteers to have a flu vaccination. (This is not required when visiting individuals or groups in an outside area such as a park, or a garden, or to a private home) . Pets are required to be assessed by us and by the volunteer's own veterinarian using one of our specific checklists for suitability. (We accept pet homeopathic flea / worming + vaccination treatments + Titer tests from a professional veterinarian.) . Dogs require a C5 vaccination (or a suitable Titer test or Homeopathic equivalent). . Cats require a F3 vaccination (or a suitable Titer test or Homeopathic equivalent). . All pets are required to be on a current worming and flea program (Homeopathic accepted). . Pets must be healthy, calm, well mannered, confident and clearly enjoy gentle interactions strangers.
