Calling Arabic-Speaking Volunteers to Support Older People in Our Community

Ageing with Grace

Logo for Ageing with Grace

We're looking for compassionate Arabic-speaking male and female volunteers to spend time with older Arabic-speaking people living in residential aged care facilities across Auburn, Revesby, and Bankstown. By sharing your time, language, and culture, you can provide meaningful companionship, heartfelt conversations, and a friendly face to someone who would truly value the connection.

By speaking their language and understanding their cultural background, you'll help older people feel more connected, understood, and less isolated—making a genuine difference in their wellbeing and quality of life.

You might spend your time:

  • Sharing a coffee or cup of tea and enjoying a relaxed chat in Arabic.
  • Listening to stories about family, life in and treasured memories.
  • Going for a gentle walk and enjoying some fresh air together.
  • Sharing music, playing cards or board games, or enjoying favourite hobbies.
  • Laughing together, reminiscing, and creating meaningful conversations.
  • Offering companionship, kindness, and a familiar cultural connection.
  • Building a genuine friendship and helping someone feel valued, connected, and at home.

Everyone has a unique story, personality, and life journey to share. Sometimes, the simplest moments—a conversation, a laugh, or a friendly visit in their own language—can make a world of difference.

With just a little time each week or fortnight, you can brighten someone's day, reduce feelings of loneliness, and build a rewarding friendship within your community.

You don't need previous volunteering experience—just a caring heart, the ability to speak Arabic, a willingness to listen, and a desire to make a positive difference.

If you're looking for a meaningful way to give back to the Arabic-speaking community and make a lasting impact in the life of an older person, we'd love to welcome you to our team.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to speak Arabic
  • Complete a National Police Check

You'll receive ongoing training, guidance, and support from your Program Coordinator throughout your volunteering journey.
