Arabic-Speaking Volunteer Needed – Make a Meaningful Connection

Share Your Language, Your Time, and Your Friendship with an Arabic-Speaking Older Person 💙
Imagine sitting down over a warm cup of coffee, sharing stories, having a laugh, and chatting comfortably in a language that feels familiar and comforting.
We’re looking for a kind-hearted Arabic-speaking volunteer to spend time with an older woman living in a residential aged care facility in Bankstown, who would love the companionship of someone she can connect with through conversation, culture, and shared experiences.
Arabic is her first language, and while she enjoys the company of others, she has limited regular visitors who can share conversations with her in Arabic. Your time could help her feel more connected, understood, and valued.
She is a social and friendly person who enjoys a good chat and making the most of simple moments. You might spend your time together:
☕ Enjoying a coffee and conversation at the in-house café
🌿 Going for a gentle walk and enjoying some fresh air
🙏 Sharing a quiet moment of prayer together
💬 Talking about life, memories, family, culture, and everyday moments
For her, it’s not about planning big activities—it’s about having someone to look forward to seeing, someone who listens, shares a laugh, and brings warmth and companionship into her day.
A regular visit once a week or once a fortnight can become a meaningful friendship. Your presence can help brighten her week and remind her that she is connected to her community.
No previous volunteering experience is required—just kindness, a willingness to listen, and the ability to share conversation in Arabic.
All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and complete a National Police Check. You’ll receive ongoing training, guidance, and support from your Program Coordinator every step of the way.
If you’d love to share your time, language, and friendship with someone who would truly appreciate it, we’d love to hear from you.
