We are seeking a volunteer tutor to lead a Asian/Chinese History course—someone who can inspire seniors through engaging conversation, stimulating content, and reflective learning.

What You Bring

  1. Passion for the Humanities
  • Love of Ideas: You’re genuinely interested in subjects such as world history, ancient and modern civilizations, philosophy, culture, ethics, or human society.
  • Curiosity & Insight: You enjoy unpacking big questions, exploring diverse viewpoints, and helping others understand the world more deeply.
  1. Knowledge & Subject Understanding
  • Background in Related Fields: Experience or study in Humanities, History, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, or similar disciplines.
  • Conceptual Understanding: Ability to guide learners through themes such as significant historical events, major thinkers, cultural developments, and human behaviour.
  • Engaging Content Creation: You can organise content into accessible, thought‑provoking sessions.
  1. Teaching & Facilitation Skills
  • Clear Communication: You explain complex topics in simple, engaging language.
  • Discussion Leadership: You guide conversations that encourage participation and welcome diverse perspectives.
  • Adaptability: You tailor sessions to meet the interests and learning styles of seniors.
  • Supportive Atmosphere: You foster a warm, respectful environment where learners feel valued and inspired.

Volunteer Commitment

As a volunteer history instructor, you’ll lead:

  • weekly sessions lasting 1 hour
  • anytime between 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. (subject to room availability)
  • open for discussion for online class

Location

We’re conveniently located in Sydney’s CBD, just a short walk from Town Hall or St James station.
