The Mission to Seafarers Sydney is a Christian-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing practical, emotional and pastoral support to international seafarers visiting Sydney. Every year, thousands of seafarers spend months away from their families while working at sea. Our mission offers them a welcoming place of friendship, care, hospitality and hope whenever they visit our Centre.
We are currently seeking friendly and reliable Retail & Administration Volunteers to join our team and help support our day-to-day operations.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding volunteer position where no two days are the same. You are to assist with:
• Welcoming seafarers and visitors to our Centre
• Assisting and supporting our onsite retail shop
• General reception and administrative tasks
• Data entry and filing
• Answering telephone enquiries
• Co-ordinate with Port terminals and Mission bus drivers for
pick-ups
• Providing customer service and support to seafarers from
diverse cultural backgrounds
• Assisting the team with the day-to-day centre operations.

You are:
• Friendly, patient, and approachable
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, and punctual
• Comfortable communicating with people from diverse
cultures
• Willing to assist with retail sales, general office
administration, and light housekeeping duties, including maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the office, reception area, retail shop, pantry, and common areas to ensure a welcoming environment for seafarers and visitors.
• Organised with good attention to details
• A team player with a willingness to learn
Time Commitment
• 1-2 days per week
• 4-6 hours per day
• Flexible scheduling - days & times can be discussed to suit
your availability
