Annerley-Stephens History Group Inc (ASHG) on the inner Southside of Brisbane, is seeking a volunteer Secretary to join our Committee in October 2026, a vital role at the heart of a vibrant and forward-thinking community organisation.

With around 120 members, ASHG is dedicated to researching, collecting, preserving and sharing the stories of our local community through events, publications, workshops, conferences, social media and digital projects. We are proud of our rich history, but we're equally excited about exploring new and innovative ways to engage people with local history.

As Secretary, you'll help keep the organisation connected, organised and compliant, allowing our volunteers to focus on delivering engaging local history projects and activities for the community.

What You'll Be Doing

Working closely with the President and Committee including Minutes and Membership Secretaries, you'll:

  • Undertake meeting preparation (including AGM)
  • Ensure that meeting records are kept and disseminated in a timely manner
  • Manage and monitor correspondence
  • Help maintain membership records
  • Assist with organisational reporting and compliance requirements, liaising with relevant organisations and stakeholders
  • Support smooth communication across the Committee and broader membership base

Importantly, you won't be doing this alone. You'll be supported by Committee members, a Communications and Engagement Officer (currently being recruited), a Minutes Secretary, and a Membership Secretary.

About You

You’re someone with great attention to detail who enjoys administration and keeping information organised and accessible. You’re comfortable using programs such as Word, Excel, Gmail and Mailchimp (or similar systems), and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team, Most importantly, you’re want to contribute to a community organisation making a positive local impact.
