Vehicle and Equipment Care Volunteer

Key Responsibilities: Routine Inspections
- Conduct regular visual inspections of vehicles, trailers and specialised equipment to identify any signs of wear, damage or malfunction.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Organise for the cleaning and maintaining of exterior and interior of vehicles and equipment, including washing, waxing and cleaning seats, windows and equipment compartments.
Fluid Checks
- Check and top up fluids such as oil, coolant and windshield washer fluid as needed.
Tyre Maintenance
- Monitor tyre pressure and tread wear, ensuring that tyres are in good condition and properly inflated.
Battery Checks
- Test and maintain vehicle batteries to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
Safety Equipment
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment on vehicles and equipment, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers and emergency communication devices.
Documentation
- Keep records of maintenance activities, inspections and any issues identified for follow-up and repair.
Equipment Organisation
- Assist in organising and storing equipment and tools in an orderly manner, making them easily accessible for field work.
Reporting
- Report any significant issues or repairs needed to the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Safety
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure your own safety and the safety of others while working on or around vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications

Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and care.

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining vehicles and equipment in good condition.

Physical fitness and the ability to perform maintenance tasks.

Availability to commit to the specified hours or days.

Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
Training:
- Training will be provided to familiarise you with the organisation’s maintenance procedures, guidelines and specific requirements for each type of vehicle and equipment.
