Do you have a love of books, a concern for people and a day to spare? Take this opportunity to volunteer your time for a great cause!

We are looking for passionate volunteers to help with Sydney University Great Hall Book Fair, hosted in collaboration with the University of Sydney. The event is dedicated to raising much-needed funds for Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland and the life saving work of their volunteers. The Book Fair gives thousands of wonderful donated books an opportunity to be rehomed.

Volunteers needed from Thursday 10th - Thursday 17th September. Come for one day or for all. There are many ways you can help out.

Location: University of Sydney

Time: 9AM - 4:30PM

Bump In / Bump Out

Setting up the space before the event opens.

• Floor Support — organising books, arranging displays, topping up tables, assisting stallholders.
• General Assistance — helping with signage, moving boxes, setting up equipment, responding to quick tasks.

Packing down after the event.

• Clearing tables, packing leftover stock
• Dismantling displays
• Tidying the venue and assisting with final clean‑up

📚 Floor Team

During event hours.

• Book Organisation — keeping tables tidy, rotating stock, ensuring genres are easy to find.
• Customer Enquiries — helping visitors locate books, answering simple questions, directing people to cashier or BBQ.
• Table Top‑Ups — replenishing popular titles, keeping displays full and neat.

Managing payments at the till table.

• Processing EFTPOS payments
• Bagging books
• Providing friendly customer service
• Keeping the payment area organised and secure
