About the opportunity

EGA is seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Design Volunteer to support the development of engaging visual communications that promote international landscape restoration, sustainable agriculture and climate resilience initiatives.

This opportunity is suited to graphic designers, visual communication professionals, graduates and students who would like to apply and further develop their design skills while contributing to meaningful environmental and community outcomes.

Volunteer activities - depending on experience and availability, volunteers may contribute to:

  • Designing graphics and visual assets for EGA's website, social media, publications and presentations
  • Creating infographics, reports, brochures, fact sheets and other communication materials
  • Developing creative concepts and visual content that communicate technical information in an engaging and accessible way
  • Supporting the design of campaign materials, event resources and promotional content
  • Ensuring EGA's visual communications are consistent with organisational branding and style guidelines
  • Collaborating with EGA staff and partners to produce high-quality digital and print-ready materials

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Minimum two years' experience in graphic design, visual communication or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Strong skills using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Experience designing digital and print communications materials
  • Creativity and the ability to develop engaging visual concepts
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage agreed activities within mutually agreed timeframes
  • Commitment to EGA's mission and values

Desirable experience - experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Canva or other digital design platforms
  • Branding and visual identity development
  • Infographic and publication design
  • Illustration or digital artwork
  • Basic video editing or animation
  • Experience designing communications for not-for-profit, environmental or international development organisations

Volunteer arrangements:

  • Location: Remote
  • Duration: Approx. 3–6 months (either party may conclude the arrangement at any time)
  • Contribution: Approx. 5–12 hours per week (to suit the volunteer's availability)
  • EGA Contact: Head of Media and Communications
  • Activities: Agreed prior to commencement
