Volunteer LGBTQ+ Support Officer

AFFMA is seeking a compassionate and professional Volunteer LGBTQ+ Support Officer to provide confidential telephone support to LGBTQ+ clients experiencing emotional distress, discrimination, social isolation, family conflict, and other personal challenges.

The successful applicant will provide one-on-one support, assess client needs, maintain confidential case notes, make appropriate referrals, and work collaboratively with the AFFMA team.

Selection Criteria:

• Excellent communication and active listening skills

• Experience supporting people in emotional distress

• Understanding of issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities

• Sound judgement, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality

Qualifications or experience in counselling, social work, community services, or crisis support will be highly regarded.
