🌿 Volunteer Opportunity – Social Support Group

Magnolia Cottage | North Nowra Do you enjoy connecting with people, sharing a cuppa, and helping others feel welcome and included? Magnolia Cottage is seeking friendly, compassionate volunteers to support our Social Support Group for older adults, many of whom may be living with dementia or benefiting from structured social connection. This is a rewarding, hands-on role where your presence truly makes a difference.

🕘 When Volunteers are needed one regular day per week: • Monday, Tuesday, or Friday • 9:30am – 2:30pm

💛 What You’ll Be Doing With support from our experienced staff, volunteers may: • Welcome and spend time with clients through conversation and companionship • Encourage participation in group activities such as crafts, games, music, trivia, and gentle movement • Assist with morning tea and lunch service • Help create a warm, safe, and inclusive environment • Support dignity, independence, and wellbeing through positive social interaction No personal care is required.

🌼 Who We’re Looking For You don’t need formal experience — just: • A kind, patient, and respectful approach • Good communication skills and a friendly manner • Reliability and commitment to your chosen day • Willingness to work as part of a team and follow staff guidance Experience with older adults, dementia, or community services is welcomed but not essential.

🎓 Training & Support We provide: • Full orientation and ongoing support • Dementia-inclusive practice guidance • Safety and role-appropriate training • A welcoming and supportive team environment

✅ Requirements • National Police Check (organised by us) • Volunteer Working With Children Check (WWCC) • Willingness to complete a Volunteer Agreement and Code of Conduct • Flu and COVID vaccinations recommended in line with organisational policy
