Advocacy & Support

  1. Provide individual advocacy for families experiencing barriers to accessing services or exercising their rights.
  2. Assist families to communicate with government agencies, service providers, and community organisations.
  3. Help families prepare for meetings, reviews, or appeals (e.g., NDIS, child protection, housing).
  4. Promote the rights, safety, and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable family members.

Information & Navigation

  1. Offer clear, accurate information about relevant systems (e.g., education, disability, health, social services).
  2. Support families to understand policies, procedures, assessments, and decision-making processes.
  3. Connect families to community programs, financial support, counselling, and other services.

Case Management & Documentation

  1. Maintain up-to-date case notes, records, and advocacy plans.
  2. Manage a caseload with professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural competence.
  3. Monitor progress, follow up actions, and evaluate outcomes with families.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  1. Build and maintain positive relationships with service providers and government departments.
  2. Participate in interagency meetings and case conferences.
  3. Contribute to community education, workshops, and outreach activities that support family empowerment.

Systemic Advocacy & Continuous Improvement

  1. Identify trends, barriers, and systemic issues affecting families.
  2. Provide feedback to management on service gaps and policy challenges.
  3. Contribute to program development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
