The Creative Women’s Association (CWA) is building national infrastructure to recognise and strengthen cultural work, skilled making, and creative production as part of Australia’s economic and workforce systems. Our work sits at the intersection of culture, manufacturing, workforce development, and social innovation. We are developing a coordinated framework that includes certification pathways, a national workforce registry, provenance systems, and domestic production networks—designed to support industries spanning textiles, design, education, health, and creative enterprise. Currently, Australia’s cultural and creative sector operates without the structural systems that support other industries—such as recognised standards, workforce visibility, and integrated production pathways. Our work addresses this gap by establishing practical, scalable systems that connect practitioners, employers, materials, and markets. We are also progressing alignment with international cultural safeguarding frameworks, positioning Australia within global conversations around cultural heritage, workforce participation, and economic value creation. As a growing organisation, we are actively building the systems, partnerships, and public presence required to deliver this work at scale. Volunteers play a critical role in this phase—supporting research, campaigns, communications, digital systems, and workforce development initiatives. This is an opportunity to contribute to nationally significant work that is shaping how cultural knowledge, creative practice, and skilled production are recognised, valued, and integrated into Australia’s future economy.
